Megan Evans explained that Alberta has over 300 native bee species but most research and attention is focused on a handful of managed species. She highlighted that wild bees face many of the same threats as managed bees, in addition to competition for food caused by the increasing presence of non-native, managed bees.

Dr. Morehouse shared information on large carnivores in southwestern Alberta. She presented information about the grizzly bear population and some challenges that arise when people and large carnivores share the landscape.
