Historical Information

Lac des Arcs was originally developed as a seasonal cottage community in the 1960s. Since then, the community has evolved from non-permanent, recreation-based to a larger proportion of permanent residents active in the Community Association.

Community Resources

Playground

In 1996, a CSA approved community playground was built on municipal reserve land in the centre of the community. In 2015 this playground was expanded and upgraded by community and business volunteers.

Trails

In 1991, the Community Association cleared a trail through the central community reserve. In 1994, a set of stairs connecting a north/south trail in the reserve along the Heart Creek was added. The lower part of the trail system was damaged during the 2013 flood and repaired in 2015.

A section of the Trans Canada Trail can be accessed via the Heart Creek parking lot south of the Lac des Arcs overpass.
