Heritage:
On the Grotto Canyon Trail ancient pictographs can still be viewed. Or take a drive on the 1A highway approximately 25km west of Cochrane and you’ll find the McDougall Church Historical Site. At Dead Man’s Flats, a heritage marker recounts the mysterious beginnings of this community. Hike to the Black Rock Fire Lookout and read a bit about its history here.
