MD Community Grants for 2020 - Apply by August 23/19

grant apps

Before completing a fillable PDF application, please review Grant Policy CS-8 to see if your proposed project falls within the Community Service mandate, capital projects for must apply for the Community Enhancement Program (Reserve Fund Policy F-10) . If your proposal is outside of these two mandates, you might still apply for funding using the CS-8 Grant Application form and your application may be submitted at anytime to be reviewed for possible the Council Discretionary funding.

If your organization is intending to apply for funding, it is important that the application be clear, complete and that all requested supplemental information is attached. The demonstration of the community benefit of your program, facility or service is an important part of the application. Your application must provide solid answers to the following questions:

  • What is the impact?
  • Who and how many will be using it?
  • How is it supported by the community?
  • What other funding is being provided?
  • How is it sustainable into the future?
  • Why is it a priority in the community?

We anticipate more requests than the available Community Service Grant funds so it is critical that you carefully read the information in the policies and applications and complete them carefully.

If you received an MD grant in 2019, YOU MUST SUBMIT A GRANT ACCOUNTING FORM BY AUGUST 16, 2019 TO BE CONSIDERED FOR 2020 FUNDING. If your project is not completed by August 16, provide an Interim Accounting Report and submit your Final Accounting Report by December 20, 2019.

Grant Policies, Accounting and Application forms (in fillable PDF format) are at https://www.mdbighorn.ca/310/Community-GrantsPlease contact Community Services before July 30 if you have any questions or require assistance in completing the grant application or grant accounting forms. Incomplete forms or applications may result in your application being excluded from consideration.

Remember the Municipal District also has a small grant fund for Community Volunteer Recognition Grants for events such as BBQs after community cleanup days or other community volunteer recognition projects. There are 6 grants of $75 each, distributed annually as equitably as possible across the Municipal District on a “first-come first-served” basis. That application form is at http://mdbighorn.ca/311/Community-Volunteer-Recognition-Grants.
